Hyde Bay Camp For Boys A Note From The New Webmaster |
|
John Mercer created the HBC website in 2001 as a voice through which campers could speak and as a close look at the history of Hyde Bay Camp For Boys. His efforts will be talked about around the campfire for many years to come. All I did was take the original site and changed things around a bit. John will always be our Webmaster Emeritus and will continue to guide the site as I simply do the administrative, page generation and uploading duties - kinda' like a UL, eh?. The HBC website is best viewed with a screen resolution of 1152x864 pixels. The pages are designed to be viewed with 800x600 resolution without having to scroll side-to-side to view the content. Some higher screen resolutions will distort the aspect ratio of characters and photos but will still work fine. In the revamped version, the ubiquitous "Previous," "Stop" and "Next" buttons should be intuitive to computer users but I should explain that the "Stop" button will bring you back to the section from whence you came. Whence? The Letters section of John's original site has been replaced by the Hyde Bay Camp Blog (cheers to John for setting it up) where you will find all of the original "Letters" and a continuation of the years 2005 to recent. See if you can find the hidden Director's Puzzle. It's a muse in keeping with finding the Hot Rock. It requires Active Content to be enabled and Flash Player 8 or better (see Frequently Asked Questions for more information). For those of you who have slower computers, I hope some of the larger photos and backgrounds load as quickly as possible. Every effort has been made to reduce the file size of photos and backgrounds where they appear. JPEG files have been kept below 100kb except for one that I can remember. Most are smaller than 50kb. The Director's Puzzle is 256kb and will take a while to load on older systems. I hope you enjoy the new "look" of the website and trust that you will send me corrections, additions, updates and criticisms. As always, if you can find some old photos of tent groups, camp in general or the Home Letters that were sent to your relatives, I'd be happy to add them to our site. It's been fun revamping the website and made me wish I had enrolled as a camper much sooner and stayed to the end. Yours truly, |
